For sure, we would be most pleased to have you as one of our guests (Don Carlos Hotel) but even if you are staying somewhere else, you can still take advantage of renting your car through us. The car can be delivered and picked-up at Don Carlos Hotel or any other Hotel in San Jose Downtown area and its surroundings without any additional charge. There isn’t any extra charge either for delivering your vehicle at the International Airport (Juan Santamaría) In this case we require that you submit your complete incoming flight information when sending your reservation form.

We recommend you to reserve your car at least with one month anticipation during our low or green season. For much busier dates: December through April, July and August, we advise to reserve at least two months in advance, and for the peak dates: Easter Week and Christmas and New Year Holidays, with all possible anticipation: Several months in advance will be much better.

Here (at Don Carlos Hotel) we have available a covered, spacious and secure parking lot. This service is complimentary for all our guests.

Notes:

1. Most car rental companies charge a deposit of: $ 750,00 for their smaller models but up to $ 1.500,00 for their larger vehicles. Renting with us, the deposit will be of only $ 750.00 no matter which car you choose.
2. Full Insurance, also known as Zero Deductible is OPTIONAL and is not included in the prices shown above. It ranges between $ 10,00 and $ 18,00 per day, depending on the size and price of the chosen vehicle. To apply for this insurance your rental period has to be a minimum of 03 days and you should be at least 25 years old. Although there is NO DEDUCTIBLE here, some items are not covered by it: Tires, Car Keys, Tools, Dismountable Radios, Dash Boards, Air Conditioning System, Antennas and all other parts subject to be stolen, including passengers’ belongings. Remember that both the CDW Insurance and the Full Insurance are meant to cover you from possible accidents (crash, turnover, etc.) but do not cover you in case of theft. You DON’T have to decide if you want to get this Zero Deductible Insurance when placing your online reservation. You decide if you need it or not after having asked your car rental agent any possible questions you may have.
3. The car has to be returned at least with the same amount of fuel it had when you received it. Otherwise the difference will be charged.
4. A rental day is 24 hours and expires at the same hour you received the vehicle. Most car rental companies will allow you one extra hour to return it without any charge. If the vehicle is turned back three or more hours after the returning hour established in the contract, an extra day will apply.
5. GPS devices are available for rent at an extra price of: $ 6.00 - $ 8.00 per day, depending on the car company being used. An additional deposit of: $ 300.00 is required for this purpose. You have to indicate us, when sending your online reservation form, if you're interested in renting a GPS.
6. Cancellation policies: You can cancel your reservation without ANY penalty if you send us a fax or mail 72 hours in advance (three full days) before your rental period begins. Car Rental Companies are especially strict about cancellations during the high season and peak dates. In cancellations made with an anticipation of only 24 hours there is always some kind of penalization, but under certain particular circumstances (like accidents, flight cancellations, etc ) some exceptions can be made.
7. If your rental period is a minimum of three full weeks (21 days) or longer, we invite you to send us a mail requesting a price quoting and we'll do our best effort to give you an even lower rate than the already very convenient prices we're offering. Just keep in mind that if you receive this long-term rental discount, you can’t return the vehicle before the established date. Otherwise our regular weekly and daily rates will apply.
8. All four wheel drive cars can hold a roof rack, which is required if you want to transport surfboards or similar items. If you want your vehicle to have one, please request it when placing your reservation. There is no extra charge for this feature. Ropes, to tie-up your belongings, must be provided by the customers. Sedans and pick-up vehicles can not hold roof racks. Vans can be supplied with a roof basket, if required, but you have to request it as well.
9. Your credit card information will be used only to GUARANTEE your reservation. Your card will not be charged in advance. Charge will be made the day when the vehicle is being delivered to you.
