Rain forests play an invaluable role in sustaining life on our planet. By regulating the global climate, controlling the water cycle and absorbing carbon dioxide, they are vital for the survival and well-being of all forms of life on Earth. Even though they cover only 6% of the earth’s land surface, they house over half the animal and plant species known to mankind. Investigators are now focusing on the vast number of medicinal substances being discovered within their surface, which are quickly becoming an important source of drugs to help us conquer some ailments and diseases that have struck us in the last decades and centuries. Rain forests can help us a lot, but we need to take good care of them and preserve them by all means.

Enjoy a unique experience “flying” in comfortable and safe gondolas along the forest canopy and its hanging gardens. Bordering the northern section of Braulio Carrillo National Park and only 50 minutes away from San Jose, this place hosts one of the richest canopy communities in the world, offering a relatively unknown world of great beauty and extraordinary biological diversity.

After a late morning departure, you’ll get there at midday, just in time for lunch.
First, there will be a very interesting video presentation showing visitors how this great and ambitious project was built without having to cut-down the native forest.

After this, your experienced guide will take you on a 30-40 minute easy hike along the trails, explaining you some of the complex and intriguing relations displayed between plants, insects and other kind of animals. Later on, you’ll be taken on a one hour plus ride through different heights of the forest canopy. The tram ride is silent, so you’ll be able to appreciate not only the sights but also the sounds of the rain forest. Each one of the gondolas can hold 04 passengers plus one of the accompanying resident guides. If you are coming to Costa Rica, we recommend you not to miss this wonderful trip. Excellent for filming and taking pictures.

Departure from Don Carlos Hotel is scheduled to be at 10:50 a.m. and you should be back around 5:00 p.m. Lunch is included.

Rain Forest Aerial Tram: $ 85.00- RESERVE
( Children 3 -10 years: 25% off )

Corcovado National Park: Located in the remote South-Pacific Coast it is perhaps Costa Rica’s least explored park but the one that boasts the highest wildlife diversity and complexity, only compared with the Amazonian Jungle. This area has remained relatively unknown and only during the last years has been object of serious scientific research, appearing in top rated, nature-oriented documentaries and magazines. National Geographic Society has catalogued this region as: “One of the most biologically intense places on Earth” Pristine beaches and virgin tropical rainforest is what visitors will find in this tropical paradise.

We invite you to combine rainforest at its best ( hiking, bird-watching, etc.) along with several beach activities, including snorkeling, and you’ll have a wonderful multi-day package that will remain in your mind and heart for years to come. Lodging will be at cozy and friendly Marenco Beach and Rainforest Lodge, a place that will provide you with everything required to enjoy a comfortable and pleasant stay while keeping you in close contact with Mother Nature.

Day 1: Your package begins when you arrive at Palmar Sur Airport. Once there, you’ll be picked-up and driven by land to Sierpe and then by boat to the Lodge, while you observe the spectacular mangroves at the mouth of the Sierpe River and then navigate along our South-Pacific coastline. After lunch, the afternoon will be yours to enjoy your favorite beach activities (some nice beaches are only 10 minute walking distance from the Lodge) or you can hike the trails of their spectacular forest reserve, which borders the National Park.

Day 2: Full day guided hiking adventure into the northern section of Corcovado National Park. Access to the park is achieved using a motor-boat, bordering the coast. Take a good pair of hiking boots for this trip, as you could find some mud in certain areas. Remember you‘ll be hiking in the middle of a tropical jungle, although there will be trails to guide you through it. Impressive diversity of wildlife will be there for you to discover it, accompanied by your informative local guide.

Day 3: Caño Island Full Day Snorkeling Tour. After navigating some 40 minutes, you’ll reach this small Costa Rican island. It became famous years ago due to the mysterious and almost perfectly-round stone spheres that our indigenous people elaborated and left there. The island’s greatest treasure is the extraordinary marine biodiversity of the waters surrounding it and which you’ll be able to explore in this trip. We recommend you to bring your own snorkeling equipment. If that’s not possible, Marenco can rent it for only $ 5.00 per person. Diving is also another possibility, but tanks are not included in overall package price. The order in which you’ll take the hiking excursion and the island trip will depend on the resort’s daily programming.

Day 4: After breakfast, you’ll be taken to Palmar Sur, where your already reserved plane will bring you back to San Jose.
