Rainforests play an invaluable role in sustaining life in our planet. By regulating the global climate, controlling the water cycle and absorbing carbon dioxide, they are vital for the survival and well-being of all forms of life on Earth.
Although they cover no more than 6% of the earth’s land surface, they house over half the number of plant and animal species known to mankind. Investigators are now focusing on the vast number of medicinal substances being discovered within their surface, which are quickly becoming an important source of drugs. These drugs will help us conquer some ailments and diseases that have struck humanity for the last decades and centuries. Rainforests can help us a lot but we need to take good care of them and preserve them by all means.
